Galveston Island Trip

On Thursday the 25th my son and another friend went on a 12 hr deep sea fishing trip out of Galveston Island, Texas. We left at 7:30 am and thought we were in for a 1.5 hr ride to the fishing spot. But to get 40-80 out, it took us 4 hours! I was wondering if we were in a Steven King book and walked up and looked in the pilot cabin wondering if the guy fell asleep. We all doped up on Dramamine an hour before the trip and all did fine during that 4 hour ride. But when we stopped and went down to my slot, that ugly sick feeling hit and I went to the restroom and both stalls were occupied so I threw up in the sink. I later saw a sign on the door saying, “If you’re sick, go outside.” Oops!

I was fine after that and we had fun fishing, catching vermilion snappers and caught some nice, huge red snappers and a trigger fish we ended up throwing back because they were out of season. My son caught a nice size Kingfish also. We caught more than we were able to keep and sometimes two at a time.

We later did the usual beach combing and then down to the Historic Strand Street area and down several streets with beautiful Victorian houses. A neat place I would like to go back to and spend more time on the beach and looking at all the historical buildings.
